Yes, yes, I know, Kenny is from that filthy show “”South Park”. I find the show rather stupid, but for some reason I can’t help but watch it! I love to see the creators’ (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) abstract views on today’s society. Poor Kenny usually dies in every episode, but recently they let him live, which makes me very happy! Kenny is the quiet one of the group, and when he does say something it’s usually muffled by his parka.

20. Ness

Okay! Here he is! My ALL TIME favorite character EVER! I know this is supposed to be strictly television and movie characters, but I HAVE to put him in; after all he is my very very very favorite. He is actually my personal hero also! (Trust me, I spent $70 for a replica of his hat and shirt.) Ness is from the video game “EarthBound”. His original depiction is on the purple banner at the top of my blog.

Ness is a psychic boy from the fictional town of Onett. He lives in a country called EagleLand (an obvious spoof of America.) Ness is also symbolized as an American, his two favorite things are baseball, and steak. Ness has many powers, such as being able to make a powerful flash that could light an entire cave.

Earthbound makes many references to American culture. In one part you fight a bad guy named the Diamond Dog. This game came out in the mid-nineties, but I did not get it until last year. It is very rare, a single copy costs $200, it was my Christmas present!

Other enemies from this game include: Master Belch (A giant pile of barf), The Kiss Of Death, Taxis (Yes, Taxis!), Mushrooms, Saplings, Oak Trees, UFOs, Puppets, Zombies, Zombie Dogs, even the notorious Zombie Tent! (A possessed circus tent).

GIYGAS IS SCARY!!!

Jack “The Pumpkin King” Skellington, king of Halloween Town, and its residents. He is from “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, created by Tim Burton. I like Jack because of his adventurous spirit. Although he is the ruler of Halloween Town, he can be pretty thick-headed, no pun intended. I also have a little bit of pitty for Jack, even though he means well, he manages to almost ruin Christmas. Jack has a ghost dog named Zero, with a bright glowing light on his nose.

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” is based of a poem that Tim Burton wrote. The poem is actually pretty short; it is amazing that a full motion picture was made from it. I also like “The Nightmare Before Christmas” for its originality. It is claymation, not all computerized like modern movies. Tim Burton was asked by Disney to make a sequel, but he refused. He wanted to keep the movie special, and not ruin it. Good Job Tim!

16. Nosferatu

Nosferatu is probably the scariest movie monster to me. His dark, beady eyes, his long fingernails, his pointy ears, his shadow. I used to be terrified of him when I was little. I first saw him on an episode of “Spongebob Squarepants” called “The Graveyard Shift”. I have actually got to see his movie now, the whole thing is on YouTube. He is also known as Count Orlok. He has gotten two pictures on this post; you really have to see his shadow to get the full chill in your spine.

17. The Brave Little Toaster

I know, your probably wondering “Why is something so cute on a Halloween post?” Yes, the characters may seem cute, and yes, it is a Disney movie. Actually, this movie is pretty dark. For example, when the Toaster and his friends are in a junkyard, it has cars singing about  their lives as they are being crushed by a compactor. This movie has to be seen before its darkness can be fully understood.

18. Casper

Casper is an American classic! There have been many adaptations of him, from comics, to cartoons, to full-length movies. Casper is also one of the saddest cartoon character of all time. All he wants is a friend, but when he goes to greet someone he get the response “A G-G-G-G-GHOST!” In the picture, Casper befriends a fox and names him Ferdie. Soon after they become friends a hunter and his dogs kill Ferdie. Casper is heart broken, and burys him. As Casper mourns beside Ferdie’s grave, the ghost of a litte fox rises from it an nuzzles Casper. Also, on the funnier side, Bart and Lisa Simpson think that Casper is the ghost of Richie Rich. Hmmm, come to think of it, they do look similar!

Portrayed by Vivian Vance. In case anyone is wondering, she is from “I Love Lucy”. She is kind of like Lucy’s sidekick on the show. She is pretty much owned by her husband, Fred. I just started watching “I Love Lucy” (Got the complete set on DVD), and so far she is my favorite character. I love her sarcasm when she is telling her husband off. Ricky would be my favorite character, but his singing really, and I mean really, gets on my nerves.

11. Floyd Lawson

Floyd, the nervous, somewhat nosey barber from Mayberry. He would usually start his sentences with “OoOoO…”, and end many of them with “…that’s nice”. There is one episode where he and Andy are talking about Teddy Roosevelt. When the quote “Speak softly, and carry a big stick” is brought up, Floyd says the humorous statement, “OoOoOo, that stick would work awful well in a gang fight. You could just come in, swinging it around.” Floyd’s actor, Howard McNear, had a stroke about halfway through his acting career. In later episodes of “The Andy Griffith Show” he is always seen sitting down, due to the stroke. If he was standing up, he would usually be leaning on something.

12. Pikachu

From the Japanese show Poke’mon, it’s Pikachu!  I can’t believe I didn’t think of him earlier; after all the hours spent playing the games, the money spent buying his merchandise, the dent in the couch from watching the show. Pikachu was a big part of my childhood. My friends and I would always play the games at school during recess. Most of us still do play the games, but the show has gotten, well, boring. I have other favorite Poke’mon characters, and you will probably get to meet them on down the list!

13. Hank Hill

Hank Hill, a true American. He is loyal to his country, his job, and his family. Hank’s only problem is that he can be disturbed by the smallest things. For example, he can’t fish with anything but an American ground-dug worm. One of my favorite episodes is where this women named Judy Harper attempts to ban Halloween. It just so happens that Hank is in charge of the school’s haunted house. Judy begins to start pestering Hank about how celebrating Halloween is sinful, and threatens to sue. Hank himself is a Christian, but he thinks Judy is taking it a little to0 far. Later in the episode Hank says one of his best lines ever “The last time I checked, it wasn’t Judy Harper’s face in the stained glass window at Arlen First Methodist!”

14. Sergeant Carter

The hot-tempered Sergeant Carter from “Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.”, often seen yelling at Gomer for doing some misdeed. He tends to jump to conclusions without veiwing the situation in whole. He is easily annoyed, which is probably why I like him. He isn’t always angry, in fact, in many episodes he ends up having a heart by the finish. His catch phrase is simply one word “PYLE!!!”, always aimed at dim-witted Gomer.

My next addition to the list will probably include some Movie characters as well, I have so many of them! HOPEFULLY, I will be able to upload some of my artwork soon, if I can get my scanner working!

These two are legends! They were on one of the first controversial  sitcoms, “All in the Family”. Archie is a somewhat grumpy taxi driver. Edith is his loud talking wife who  spends most of her time in LaLa Land. The two are always seen at the begining of each episode singing “Those Were the Days”, sitting in front of the piano.  These two are kind of like the original Frank and Marie. My sister has all of the DVDs that are out. Everytime I visit her we watch this, and occasionally Sanford and Son. Edith’s catchphrase is, “Aaarrrchie!”

8. The Powerpuff Girls

Okay, go ahead, laugh… The Powerpuff Girls were my childhood heroes, and still are one of my top 5 favorite TV shows. It is actually a pretty violent show at times. They are made of Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice, plus a drop of Chemical X (which gave them their powers)

They each have different attitudes. Blossom, the pink one, is the leader and smart one of the group. Bubbles, the blue one, is the joy and the laughter. Buttercup, the green one, is the tomboy of the group, and the strongest. Buttercup is also my favorite one, just because she is mean.

“The Powerpuff Girls” had it’s share of adult humor. There was one episode that wasn’t allowed to air in the U.S. (It was a Rock Opera). When I was younger my Dad would often become disgruntled, and say “Girls can’t be super heroes, you should be watching Superman”. I personally didn’t like the fact of watching a show about a super hero who wears his underwear on the outside… *Shudder* I bought the complete series on DVD this summer.

9. The Rowdyruff Boys

The counterparts of The Powerpuff Girls. I just thought while I was on the subject of the Powerpuff Girls I would add these guys too. After all, they are from my favorite episode. They were created to destroy The Powerpuff Girls. Their names are Brick (Red), Boomer (Blue), and Butch (Green). They are made of Snips, Snails, and Puppy-Dog Tails, plus a drop of sewer water (to give them their powers).

The recipes for The Powerpuff Girls and The Rowdyruff Boys come from an old poem dating back to the nineteenth century. It is entitled “What Folks Are Made Of”

Here is an excerpt:

What are little boys made of?

Snips and snails, and puppy-dogs’ tails,

That’s what little boys are made of.

Sugar and spice, and everything nice,

I like Morticia mainly because she never lets  anyone bother her. In fact, nothing really does bother her (unless it’s sunny outside). One of her best quotes is when she is talking to a lady about redecorating.

Morticia: “I have the perfect color for the chairs… Black!”

Lady:  (Looking confused)

Morticia: “And the curtains… Black!”

Lady:” A-a-and the carpet? Black?”

Morticia: “No! Off-Black! You have to have some contrast you know…”

4. Frank and Marie

The image of an old, grumpy, married couple. They both combine to make one character. Frank and Marie are always fighting over something, but it is possible to tell that they have an unbreakable bond. Their arguments are always side-splitting. Dorris Roberts is also one of my favorite actresses. She’s today’s answer to Aunt Bee! (I’m trying to fix the text on this one, but it won’t work)

One of their best quotes is…

Marie: “If you don’t give Ray back his money, then you’re not the man I married.”

Frank: “I win again!”

5. Aunt Bee (Beatrice Taylor)

Speaking of Aunt Bee… She is also one of my all time favorite characters. Aunt Bee makes the viewer feel right at home. She is probably the hardest working person in the Taylor household. She has dinner cooked every night, and breakfast on the table by six in the morning. She is a model homemaker for every generation.

6. Grandpa Munster

Grandpa has been one of my favorite characters since I was a child. He is constantly bothered by his son-in-law, Herman. Apparently, Grandpa has lived to see many historical events, such as “The French Revolution”. His age is never clearly stated on the show. Grandpa is played by Al Lewis. His trademark quote is “Ooooh Boy!”, sarcastically, of course…

1. Homer Simpson – Ah yes, Homer Simpson, the greatest cartoon hero of all time… King of the hit TV series “The Simpsons”.

I can really relate to Homer because, when I get home, I am really lazy… I love to sit on the couch and eat a good doughnut or any other fattening substance I can find.  I also like Homer because, he may seem dumb but he can say some very clever things such as…  “It takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen.”

2. Barney Fife – Barney is a CLASSIC! “The Shakiest Gun in Mayberry!”

I started watching “The Andy Griffith Show” in 9th grade. I liked it so much I actually bought the complete series on DVD! Barney is one of my favorite characters because, like him, I can overreact to the smallest things. In Season 6 of the show he left… The seasons after that seem empty… As Andy once said, “I miss Barn…”
